GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete line of heavy and medium-duty all-electric vehicles, including lower-floor and high-floor models. GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system. This will allow fleets to seamlessly transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able of wireless charging of 75 kW.
We were able to test drive the EV9 on an unpaved highway for several hours. We found it to be easy to drive, and comfortable to drive for long distances. The EV9 can be used to block road noise and wind while on the highway. It is smooth on ruts and humps. The acceleration is surprisingly fast and the car has adjustable regenerative braking to enable "one pedal driving" by lifting off of the accelerator.
The EV9 is extremely reliable and can be fully recharged within three hours at home, or with any commercial charger. Drivers have the option of choosing between two modes of operation including eco mode and sports mode. Both are fun to drive and offer an experience unlike any other for those who have never been in an electric vehicle before.
In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other electric vehicles, including a multi-purpose all-electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used for executive shuttles, microtransit and transit vanpools, buses, or paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower produces approximately 10 EV Star buses per month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric cars. With the Biden Administration planning to electrify schools across the nation, GreenPower plans on ramping production to meet the demand. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be tested in Altoona and FMVSS-certified. Buy America compliant and ADA compliant. This means they will be eligible for federal assistance in transit.
